The Provision is in the House
Here are some common hiring strategies I see:
1. Call your pastor friends and see if they know of anyone looking for a job.
2. Hire people off the internet.
3. Trade staff members with another church.
Most of the time these don’t work like we think they will. Here’s what I see as the most effective strategy:
Build with the spiritual sons and daughters in your church.
I’m not saying there aren’t instances where God may have an external hire or transfer for your staff team, but more often than not, the provision is in the house. The best staff members out there could be sitting in your auditorium on Sunday morning. They know you and already understand the heart and vision of your church. The key is identifying those people in your church who have a call on their life and discerning their potential as they serve and lead.
